JEDDAH: A number of soldiers deployed along the southern border may have their cell phones disconnected because they could not register their fingerprints. The biometrics machines have not been made available in the areas they are deployed by the telecom companies. Mohammed Al-Shahrani, a citizen, met one of the soldiers at a customer service center in Asir. He said that armed forces personnel sat there for several hours, having come from the border just to register their fingerprints. He urged the telecom firms to send their representatives to the border areas to do the job. This should be the duty of the companies that operate in the Kingdom, he said.
