Movenpick Hotel Jeddah calls for charity donations in support of education

To mark the United Nations International Day of Charity on Sept. 5, Movenpick Hotel Jeddah is inviting the public to make a charity donation to support education.
"A Kilo of Kindness for a treat of ice cream" is a campaign by Movenpick Hotels & Resorts that involves 16 hotels in the Middle East and Asia.
Guests and residents who donate at least 1 kg of learning supplies such as books and stationery, will receive ice cream as a "thank you."
Last year, 1,285 kg of charitable supplies were collected and the upscale hospitality company hopes that it can improve on that figure this year.
Supplies can be dropped off in the hotel lobby from now until Sept. 1. The donated items will be distributed by selected charity organizations or schools in their respective communities. Movenpick Hotel Jeddah is supporting Al Bir Society.
Through this campaign, Movenpick Hotels & Resorts is drawing attention to the importance of supporting education as a charitable initiative. September is traditionally a time for students to return to school after the summer. Yet, for many children in disadvantaged communities, the educational materials required to optimize their learning, cannot always be counted upon.
A Kilo of Kindness is part of Shine, Movenpick Hotels & Resorts’ global sustainability program, which aims to give back to the communities where the company operates properties.
Shine’s practices are grouped around three pillars — Environment, employer and social sustainability — with education forming the common thread as a key focus.
