JEDDAH: The JBL opened its second conference project for 2016 dubbed SEIKO Watch – JBL Basketball Tournament last Friday at the Khalidia basketball court here.
Twenty-eight participating teams paraded in their resplendent uniforms during the opening ceremony which JBL President Mohammed Rasheed Suyat and JBL Tournament Director Donald Doloso presided. Ahmad Peradilla of Jeddah Dawah Center gave inspirational Islamic invocation to open the tournament. Chief guest Abu Abdurahman of Briman Islamic Center delivered inspiring welcome address and his very fluent Tagalog delighted everyone. Jameel Cobre of JDC All Star Team led the oath of sportsmanship.
The awards for the Best Team in uniform went to Leylati (Jerome Posadas), ICTHUS (Dennis Elmenzo) and Fakieh Group of Companies (Ruel Bristol) for Inter-Company; Jacob Jeddah KSA (Ariel Acedera) and Khalidia 40s (Coach Gary) for 40 & above category and JDC Legend (Shareef Castillo) for Inter-Dawah Category. Winning Best Mascot awards were JDC Legend, Khalidia Balik Islam, JDC All Star A, Fakieh Group of Companies, ICTHUS, Khalidia Tambayz, Jeddah Thunders and Khalidia 40’s.
In the first game, Fame of Miramonte Brothers beat Thunders 105-54. Fame played organized offense in the whole game as Thunders missed important baskets in the second half. JR Garcia top-scored with 24 points for Fame and was adjudged SEIKO Watch Best Player of the game while Mickey Selva scored 29 points for Thunders.

In the 40 & Above Division, Gensoul Eagle of Coach Alex Musngi defeated JACOBS Jeddah 77-73. Gensoul Eagle showed heart in the crucial minutes of the game as JACOBS Jeddah continued to attack the Eagle defense. Mike Joson had 24 points for Gensoul Eagle and was adjudged as the JBL Best Player of the game while Dela Rosa chipped in 26 points for JACOBS Jeddah.
Khalidia Tambayz of coach Gerry Acosta brought down Sunbulah 104-86. Khalidia Tambayz enjoyed home court advantage over Sunbulah. Javier led Khalidia Tambayz with 20 points and was adjudged SEIKO Watch Best Player of the game while Fuentes led Sunbulah with 39 big points.
JDC Legend of coach Ricky Abdulaziz Yu beat JDC All Star A 93-79 in the Inter-Dawah Division. JDC Legend showed veterans skills against JDC All Star A in the whole game. Jaber and Waleed scored 22 points apiece for JDC
