MoE amends teachers’ contracting procedures

TAIF: The Ministry of Education (MoE) has modified contracting procedures of teachers at private and international schools, both boys and girls.
According a circular issued to school owners of both private and international, at least two years must have passed since the date of the termination of the teacher’s last contract rather than three years, if the reason for termination came at the request of a teacher, or for behavioral or professional misconduct.
Additional requirements for contracting from outside the Kingdom include a bachelor’s degree and at least two years of teaching experience. The teacher must be no older than 56 years old and must submit a certificate of health from an approved medical authority proving good health.
The teacher must also be a specialist in the area of teaching and be proficient in the language and curriculum taught in international programs and foreign schools.
Additionally, the teacher must pass a professional and personal interview, and must not have been away from practicing the professional during the last three years.
The same conditions and requirements apply for contracting teachers from inside the Kingdom, in addition to the teachers having an active residency permit and a professional license issued from the Ministry of Labor and Social Development.
The teacher must also pass the test of the National Center for Measurement and Evaluation, as well as any other tests decided on by the Ministry of Education.
A letter from the school wishing to contract the teacher must be provided with a copy of the decision of the former school indicating non-renewal of the contract.
