RIYADH: More than 37,000 male and female youths will take part in the summer camps being conducted by the Ministry of Labor and Social Development in Riyadh.
The program, sponsored by Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF), recently called for applications online for those who wish to participate in the summer camps to be held in all parts of the Kingdom.
According to a HRDF official, there were 37,283 applicants which included 25,870 females. The national initiative aims to train Saudi youths on specific skill sets according to a range of training programs, with the goal of helping the participants gain employment opportunities that meet the requirements of the labor market.
The bodies participating in implementation of the training sessions are the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation, HRDF and the Saudi Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The program also helps establishments in the market by providing them with the qualified candidates through joint cooperation between the project’s parties.
The Summer Training Program (Saifi) operates during the summer holiday of the school year. It is oriented towards both male and female students who are above the age of 17 years and aims to provide those students the basic skills that qualify them to join the labor market, and enable them to invest in productive activities.
The program also encourages young men and women to take advantage of the summer season to update their skills within a short time and at the lowest possible cost to themselves.
The participants will undergo training in major skills such as communication, negotiation, computer skills, salesmanship, e-marketing, secretarial and administrative correspondence, research skills, leadership and supervisory skills, digital content management and human resource management. These courses run for a period of two weeks, while the English language training course will be held for eight weeks.
