RIYADH: In response to the directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman to support the World Food Program that provides food security for needy Palestinian families, the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid continues its assistance to all the program's activities in Palestine.
Bassam Al-Agha, Palestinian ambassador to Saudi Arabia, was quoted by a local publication as saying that King Salman personally oversees all the support efforts that help the Palestinian cause in general, and Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa in particular.
"King Salman also checks on the development projects in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people at large," said the Palestinian ambassador.
He added that the Kingdom's interest in the development of Palestine is translated in the establishment of schools, hospitals and extension of humanitarian aid, as well as in the integrated work in Rafah.
The Kingdom has greatly contributed to building the Nahr Al-Bared camp in north Lebanon, and to international organizations that oversee the granting of relief to Palestinians. He said Palestinians are grateful to Saudi Arabia, and “the Palestinian leadership and the media always give thanks to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and the noble Saudi people.”
"We will never forget the efforts made by the Kingdom to protect the PLO in Lebanon, and Saudi Arabia’s standing firm in the face of all attempts to shake the unity of the Palestinian people and Palestinian legitimacy," he added.
He pointed out that Saudi Arabia bears the burden of the Palestinian political movement, and any political steps taken by the Palestinians are taken only after consultations with the Saudi leadership.
