KACND plans weekly forums on dialogue

RIYADH: The Riyadh-based King Abdul Aziz Center for National Dialogue (KACND) will be conducting weekly forums on various themes that promote cohesion and coexistence, in coordination with government and private institutions and involving diverse segments of society, including scholars, intellectuals and journalists.
KACND on Monday approved a series of projects for the coming year that are expected to contribute to its efforts to enhance national cohesion in line with its strategy.
Faisal Muammar, KACND secretary-general, said that the projected programs are part of the strategy adopted for the next five years, which focuses on promoting community participation in the fight against extremism, intolerance, sectarian, tribal and territorial ambitions.
It also works to promote coexistence, national unity, social mobilization, and the role of the family, the first to shoulder religious and social responsibilities, which can teach moderation and protect its members from the plague of extremism, racism and hatred.
The program seeks to achieve integration and cooperation, which can help maintain national unity, entrench values like tolerance and moderation, and combat intolerance and hatred among different segments of the society.
