This is with reference to the report “3,000 dengue cases recorded in Jeddah since beginning of 2016” (July 16). It is an alarming situation and we all need to take necessary action to tackle this problem. Relying only on municipal authorities to take care of the sanitation problem is not going to help us. All of us should take all precautions to maintain cleanliness in our surrounding. We should remember that small step could make a big difference.
The authorities, however, should once again launch a comprehensive campaign to highlight measures necessary to check spread of mosquito-borne diseases like dengue and malaria. We all know that prevention is better than cure. — Musharraf Jamal, Jeddah
