Jeddah readies Summer Festival 2016 for launch

JEDDAH: The Jeddah Summer Festival is due to be launched on Wednesday under the slogan “Fun, Prizes and Shopping,” and involves an array
of events for Jeddah residents and visitors.
The famous Jeddah summer festival “Jeddah Ghair,” is being organized by the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI), in cooperation with the Jeddah Governorate, the Jeddah Municipality and the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage. The festival will focus on shopping and entertainment and is one of the biggest tourism events of the year.
Jeddah Ghair includes many entertainment events like fireworks, gold and jewelry festivals, raffle draws and concert performances by famous Saudi stars, in addition to folk art, traditional food displays, exhibitions and literary and scientific evenings. These varied evens will be held in shopping malls, community centers, beaches and parks with the aim of promoting Jeddah as city for international and domestic tourism in the Kingdom and the Gulf region.
Adnan bin Hussein Mandorah said the executive committee of the festival held a number of intensive meetings in order to arrange the best entertainment activities for families. He pointed out that the festival received considerable support from Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal and Jeddah Gov. Prince Mishaal bin Majed. The festival is looking forward to the festival in line with the high expectations set by the Vision 2030.
He said that the JCCI will make every effort to enhance the status of this event with tourist activities, and will carefully observe the development and regeneration efforts of the festivals in terms of providing Saudi tourism products to visitors.
The organizing committee has lined up more than 100 entertainment, social, sports and cultural events, with 15 car prizes, as well as cash prizes for visitors for different activities.
He said that the festival’s main objective is to attract families from neighboring countries, stressing that the festival aims to attract more than one million visitors and tourists annually, who help in promoting the general tourism boom and who contribute to the development of the economy.
He urged Saudis to spend their holiday on the shores of Jeddah, visiting historical and archaeological areas to help promote domestic tourism. He also pointed out that Saudi tourism is one of the most important pillars of the Saudi economy that has all of the attention of all government and official bodies, who are the key partners in the marketing and organization of the event. He stressed that the Jeddah Chamber will make every effort to enhance the status of this event among the public.
