Jeddah won’t forget 2 Khans — one rescuer, other evil

JEDDAH: Both Farman Khan and Gulzar Khan are Pakistanis, but there is a world of difference between them. One offered sacrifice, the other displayed treason.
One sacrificed his life while rescuing 14 people, mostly Saudis, while the other tried to take lives of innocent people.
Farman’s name will be written in gold letters. One of the roads in Jeddah is named after him in recognition of the bravery and sacrifice he displayed while rescuing people from the Jeddah floods of 2009. He died while on his way to rescue the 15th. His is a sacrifice, which will always be remembered by all Saudis.
Gulzar blew himself up near a mosque in Jeddah attempting to kill innocent people.
The acts of one person cannot of course be used to stigmatize an entire people. That is clear.
But Gulzar Khan sold himself to Daesh. He wished to inflict pain on a country that hosted him and his family for 12 years.
Two people, two stories Saudis will not forget soon.
