Quintiq, a Dassault Systèmes company and global leader in supply chain planning and optimization (SCP&O), says its planning and optimization software platform has been selected by Maaden Aluminium to facilitate a business planning transformation program.
Maaden Aluminium wanted to switch from volume-driven to demand-driven production planning. To achieve its targets, it needed a planning software platform that could integrate internal planning processes, improve information flow and support optimal decision-making.
Maaden Aluminium is stated to have chosen Quintiq for its scalability and optimization capabilities as well as successful track record in the industry.
Quintiq will optimize the aluminum producer’s internal processes and guide its employees on industry best practices and strategies.
It will provide Maaden Aluminium with greater visibility over its supply chain, identify and reduce bottlenecks in production, and develop expertise in pull-through production.
The platform’s scenario planning capabilities will enable Maaden Aluminium’s planners to handle disruptions effectively while its KPI dashboards ensure that they see the impact of their planning decisions on business goals.
Chief Puzzle Solver at Quintiq Victor Allis worked closely with the Ma’aden Aluminium team to develop the Quintiq platform for the aluminum producer’s transformation program.
He said: “We believe that a holistic approach is key to a successful supply chain planning and optimization program. We are very proud that a major aluminum company like Maaden chose Quintiq for this project. This partnership further cements our presence in the GCC’s metals market.”
Allis added: “We selected Quintiq because it’s a leading expert in supply chain planning and optimization with a proven track record in the aluminum industry. Quintiq proved, in a one-week go-live challenge, that they understood our challenges and could build a planning solution for us in a very short time,” said Tom Walpole, SVP of the aluminum strategic business unit at Maaden Aluminium.
Maaden Aluminium, part of the Maaden group in Saudi Arabia, operates one of the largest and most efficient vertically-integrated aluminum production complexes in the world. The complex represents a SR40 billion ($10.8-billion) investment made in partnership with Alcoa.
