Riyadh Municipality working on final touches for Eid celebration

RIYADH: Riyadh Municipality is currently working on the final touches to ensure a successful Eid Al-Fitr celebration which will be held in 43 locations across the Saudi capital.
The celebration’s executive committee said that Riyadh Gov. Prince Faisal bin Bandar issued a directive for the municipality to ensure that the residents and visitors reach the sites of the celebrations without problems.
“The Saudi capital’s residents and visitors are assured of all services as well as facilities they need so that they can have access to the sites and enjoy Eid celebrations this year,” the executive committee said.
It also said that the sites had been chosen in accordance with certain criteria such as geographical location, population density, special standards for easy access to the sites without congestion, among others.
It added that these are in addition to the equipment and potential of the sites and their suitability for the quality of events to be organized under the auspices of the municipality.
The executive committee added that one of the sites that have unfailingly attracted a huge number of residents and visitors over the years include the sprawling King Abdullah Park in the Malaz District.
King Abdullah Park has been one of a number of locations in the Saudi capital where dazzling and colorful fireworks are displayed before midnight, holding spectators spellbound.
“The Riyadh Municipality is eager to renew the activities this year so that these could be in accordance with the National Transformation Program (NTP) while meeting the needs of the residents and visitors,” it added.
It added that “one of the new activities this year includes vehicles equipped with slogans on the celebrations while roaming around the neighborhoods in the Saudi capital.”
“There will also be events at a zoo where visitors, particularly children, will be learning about animals. There will also be a train ride inside the zoo,” the executive committee said.
Activities are also being lined up at the King Fahd National Library as well as the Dirab Club where cycling sprints, karting and modified cars will be showcased.
