RIYADH: The newly launched digital mobile “Jawwy” in the capital, with its own SIM card and application, is expecting to attract more than 65 percent of the Saudi population, aged below 30, said Subra J. Das, CEO of Jawwy.
Das told Arab News that Saudi youths are digitally savvy and “it is imperative that we continue to innovate in line with changing market realities.”
He said that Jawwy from STC is a new digital mobile experience for today’s digital generation, and is essentially, a ‘personal mobile service, in an app.’ The service has its own SIM, app and freshly designed digital channels for buying and receiving support, said the CEO.
“With Jawwy, we hope to revolutionize the mobile telecom landscape, putting the customers first and giving them complete control of their mobile experience.”
He said the “whole reason why we created Jawwy is to offer a strong proposition for the youth market in Saudi Arabia and one characteristic of this youth market is they are one of the world’s most active users of social media and online services.”
The CEO added: “When you’re looking at what can be done for the youth segment, it was very clear that, given their habits and that digital is so big in their lives, we have to have a customer proposition which is also digital … that’s also the future now for the youth in Saudi Arabia.” Following is the text of the interview:

Q: What exactly Jawwy has to offer to its customers and whom it targets?
A:
The new offering caters specifically to digitally savvy young people, which essentially make up about 65 percent of the Saudi population. Jawwy allows customers to use an app or the website to choose and personalize their own plans based on their specific preferences with regards to data and minutes. No other mobile telecom offering provides customers with that level of control.
Q: Why do you think Jawwy was launched and what do you hope to achieve?
A:
Technology changes constantly and telecommunications companies must, too. With the latest digital technologies, it is now possible to create a completely new experience for the digital generation in Saudi Arabia, who are among the most digitally-savvy in the world.
Jawwy from STC is another milestone in STC’s ongoing commitment to continuously investing in understanding customers and new technologies. As the pace of new technology developments becomes faster, and consumer expectations change, we are evolving our business to ensure that we can offer customers what they need and want. With more than 65 percent of the population in KSA aged under 30 years old today, it is imperative that we continue to innovate in line with changing market realities.
With Jawwy, we hope to revolutionize the mobile telecom landscape, putting the customers first, and giving them complete control of their mobile experience. We conducted extensive research into customer needs and requirements, as well as what frustrated them about their mobile experience. Jawwy was launched on the back of this research, in response to the evolving needs of customers.

Q: What are its success chances?
A:
We initially launched Jawwy as a trial to a select few people, and it has thus far been very successful. The mobile service is now available to everyone by simply ordering a SIM online and downloading the Jawwy App; customers can immediately get started, and this is part of the Jawwy appeal. It’s a digital-first, and allows customers to control usage through the app, providing them with the ability to monitor, manage and personalize their plans in real time.

Q: You’re targeting young people with Jawwy. Why would they choose Jawwy as their operator? What value are you offering them?
A:
In short, we’re offering them complete, simplified control of their mobile experience. In addition to being able to use the app or website to build and manage their plans, customers can monitor usage and spend in real time and get notified when they’ve used 80 percent and 100 percent of their plans. They can also share plans across devices and pay only for what they use, as they are allowed to pay per second for national calls, and per KB for data. Jawwy also offers 24/7 support online and through peer-to-peer support, eliminating the need to visit a shop or call a hotline. Of course, in addition to all of this, Jawwy is backed by the power of STC, operating on the widest 4G network in KSA.

Q: What pricing packages does Jawwy offer to its customers?
A:
With Jawwy, users can build, manage and share their plan in real time, giving them complete control over the service configuration and on their spending. Customers can go to the website, configure their plan as they’d like, and see what their tailored plan would cost them per month.

Q: How can a customer get a Jawwy SIM?
A:
Anyone can easily order a Jawwy SIM online at jawwy.sa from anywhere in the Kingdom. We’ve tied up with many delivery partners to ensure a good delivery experience for them. Once the order is complete, they’ll get a message about the delivery date, and we’ll keep them regularly updated on the status of their delivery.
