RIYADH: Owners of mobile phone shops across the Kingdom have been posting advertisements on their shop windows for only Saudi employees, said a media report.
There has seemingly been a commitment to the Saudization of the sector launched by the Ministry of Labor and Social Development earlier this year, which calls for the complete replacement of expatriates by Sept. 2.
It is expected that 30,000 jobs for Saudi nationals will be available for Saudis. There have already been 34,000 Saudi men and women trained in maintenance, sales and customer service through the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation, with the support of the Human Resources Development Fund to help new entrants.
The ministry had ordered 50 percent Saudization of the cellphone industry by Ramadan 1 (June 6), to be completed 100 percent by Sept. 2 or Dhul Hijjah 1.
