WASHINGTON: The visit to the United States by Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman will boost ties between the two old allies, which would have positive outcomes for the Middle East, according to an expert here.
Fahad Nazer, a non-resident fellow at the Arab Gulf States Institute in Washington, in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency, said that the two countries share common interests in the region, which require the strengthening of strategic relations.
“Saudi Arabia enjoys a unique status in the Islamic world and the US appreciates the Kingdom’s leadership position, so it treats the Kingdom as an important strategic ally, and appears keen to deepen bilateral cooperation on issues of concern, particularly on the political, economic and security (fronts),” Nazer said. The United States, he said, considers the Kingdom one of its strongest allies in the region with regards to combating terror. “The US appreciates Saudi Arabia’s political position and international efforts against terror in the region and the around the globe.”
He said US officials are welcoming the visit of the deputy crown prince, which is expected to involve an intense round of meetings and consultations.
