IKEA plans for second store in Jeddah

IKEA Saudi Arabia of Ghassan Ahmed Al Sulaiman Furniture Trading Co. Ltd., a major home furnishing retailer, has announced plans for opening its first shopping mall outlet at Al Salaam mall. The store is expected to be operational in 2017, and will be the second store in the Western Region.
IKEA Saudi Arabia, which opened its first store in 1983, today has two other flagship stores in Riyadh and Dhahran with plans for further expansion. All three stores closely follow the popular self-serve, self-assembly concept and feature an impressive array of inspirational designs and home improvement solutions. Today, IKEA Saudi Arabia attracts nearly 10.8 million people annually.
Saud Al-Suleiman, CEO of IKEA Saudi Arabia, said: “The opening of yet another store in the Kingdom testifies IKEA Saudi Arabia’s continuous efforts to be closer to customers and create a better everyday life for the many people, today and every day.”

Through the opening of our new store, we remain committed to create quality jobs for the Saudi community, and support the Vision 2030 plan.”
The three-story store at Salaam mall will include a showroom, restaurant and a market hall that will provide customers with greater convenience and a wide selection of home furnishing inspiration and solutions at “incredibly low prices.”
The 23,000 sqm will feature more than 7,000 exclusively designed items, three model home interiors, approximately 53 room settings, a supervised play area accommodating 80-100 children, a 400-seat restaurant serving Swedish specialties such as meatballs with lingonberries and salmon plates, as well as Saudi cuisine. Other family-friendly features will include a Children’s IKEA area in the showroom, baby care rooms, and preferred parking.
