RIYADH: The Saudi Electric Company (SEC) said that it has introduced a number of projects to enhance the reliability of service in the villages of Jazan region.
“These come as part of a wide range of projects to strengthen the electrical system in Jazan so that it can keep pace with the rapid development and growth in the region,” SEC said in a statement.
The company said that the region will benefit from a steam power plant project that will run through 2017. The SEC said it had completed a station and linked it to the system and other neighboring government facilities.
It is scheduled to use the station in the future in connection with a housing suburb and a hospital in the region.
The company also said that it has operated a plant expansion project and started services in the provinces.
Meanwhile, Director of Civil Defense in Jazan Major General Saad Al-Ghamdi met with an official of the education department in Jazan to discuss important matters regarding the delivery of electricity to a number of new schools in the region.
The contractor confirmed that it has qualified technical crews to repair any malfunction that might happen to the network as soon as possible, adding that the emergency squad works around the clock.
The meeting was also attended by Gen. Ali Al-Omari, assistant director of Civil Defense, other officials in the region, the Jazan administration building management consultant and project contractor.
