Six students emerged winners from among 120 participants in the nationwide Environmental Research Competition, an initiative launched by Binzagr Unilever Ltd., the Saudi arm of one of the world’s major FMCG companies, in collaboration with the Saudi Society for Environmental Sciences of King Abdulaziz University (KAU).
The research award was given to Saudi universities and colleges in an attempt to increase awareness of the importance of preserving the environment, as well as engaging the students in environmental activities in a bid to unleash their talents and potential.
The award consisted of three categories: Water reduction, waste recycling and energy reduction.
Of 120 participants, six students emerged victorious in the three categories. Winners of the Water reduction category were Ghada Fuad and Munira Mazrooq.
In the waste recycling category, Yazid Al-Soleye and Khalid Barqi topped the list, while in the Energy Reduction category, the first place was shared by Ali Abduljalil Almaa and Mujaihid Rafique.
Khalid Fayed, MD & GM, Binzagr Unilever, said: “We congratulate the winners and all the students who participated. The level of engagement and the innovations that we saw are a sign of a bright future ahead of us.”
