Iraqi woman who supported Daesh jailed for six years

JEDDAH: The Special Criminal Court on Sunday imposed a six-year prison sentence on an Iraqi citizen after she was found guilty of supporting Daesh and promoting and sharing videos through social media. The court announced the verdict at its summer headquarters in Jeddah.
The court convicted her of storing, preparing and sending material prejudicial to public order across social networking sites, supporting Daesh, following their news and sharing their videos, especially with a number of women supporters, and sending her husband audio clips that incited violence.
The court passed the order of a six-year imprisonment (effective from the date of her arrest) under Royal Order No. A/44 read with item six, the confiscation of her computer that contains prohibited material under the Anti-Cybercrime Law and the closure of her social media account under Article 13 of the same law.
She was convicted of seeking to mislead investigating authorities by hiding two computers of her husband after being arrested by security forces and concealing her request to her father-in-law to remove all data including her husband following Daesh activities and his plan of leaving with her for Iraq illegally after coordination with her brother.
