RIYADH: Visiting Burkina Faso President Roch Marc Christian Kabore has called on Saudis to visit and invest in his country. He reaffirmed his country’s promise to provide guarantees for protecting Saudi investments in the country.
Burkina Faso was among the first countries to join the Islamic Military Alliance against terrorism and extremism, and it participated in the last meeting of the Chiefs of Staff of the Alliance held recently in Riyadh.
Kabore and his accompanying delegation arrived Monday to meet with Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and other senior Saudi officials.
“Burkina Faso is an important West African country with rich natural resources. Unlike many countries, they have not been tapped for investment purposes,” the president told Saudi businessmen at the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industries on Wednesday.
He called on Saudi investors and businessmen to provide assistance in the state’s efforts to promote infrastructure and participation plans in several areas available for partnerships or tenders for government projects including roads and communication networks and other private investment projects.
The president pointed out that his country had large-scale projects, including gold mines capable of producing large quantities of gold, as well as possible investments in other mineral projects.
He stressed that his country’s ambassador to the Kingdom was authorized to deal with any inquiries or facilities required by Saudi businessmen. He called on the Saudi Minister of Commerce and Industry to visit Burkina Faso with a delegation of businessmen to learn about the country.
The president added that it was the right time for the establishment of large-scale projects in livestock, as well as the establishment of residential buildings and health care facilities.
Expressing Saudi businessmen’s desire to strengthen partnerships, Vice Chairman of the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce Khaled Mukairin said that this was is in line with the Kingdom's Vision 2030.
“We have to translate investment partnerships between the two countries into trade figures that will meet the expectations of both countries,” he added.
He said the Kingdom’s new vision encouraged economic reforms, both internal and external.
It looks at Burkina Faso as one of the countries that take advantage of this trend to promote joint business efforts and achieve development of both countries.
