RIYADH: Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman gave away prizes to the winners of the second King Abdulaziz Book Awards at Al-Yamamah Palace on Wednesday.
The awards included grants for those producing exceptional work to document the history of the Arabian Peninsula, presented by the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah), SPA reported.
The king congratulated the award winners and praised their scientific efforts. He said it was important to document the history of the region for future generations, which demonstrated what can be achieved by a country adhering to the Holy Qur’an and Sunnah of the Prophet, peace be upon him.
Those present included Fahd bin Abdullah Al-Sammari, adviser to the royal court and Darah’s acting secretary general, who thanked the king for assisting to preserve the region’s history.
King Salman handed certificates to the winners of the King Abdulaziz Book Awards. They were Sheikh Mohammed bin Nasser Al-Aboudi, Abdurrahman bin Suleiman Al-Muzaini, Rashid bin Saad Al-Qahtani, Awad Ali Al-Sabali Al-Zahrani, Ibrahim bin Ali Al-Deghiri, Saleh bin Mudah Al-Jadani, and Masha’ah bint Juhaym bin Maqboul Al-Otaibi.
The winners of the grants for Studies, Research and History of the Arabian Peninsula were Ismail bin Mohammed Al-Beshri, Suleiman bin Abdurrahman Al-Dheeb, Khalid bin Hamoud Al-Sadoun, Abdulaziz bin Rashid Al-Senaidi, Al-Jawharah bint Abdulaziz Al-Saadoun, Badria bint Abdulaziz Al-Busairi, Rima bint Saleh Al-Jarnas and Rasha bint Ibrahim Al-Fawaz.
The ceremony was attended by Minister of Culture and Information Adel Al-Toraifi and Minister of Foreign Affairs Adel Al-Jubeir.
