JEDDAH: Forty five percent of the Corniche development project has been completed by the Jeddah municipality, including walkways, toilets and security systems.
This is according to Jeddah Mayor Hani Abu Ras who recently toured the 4.5-kilometer area from the Al-Nawras roundabout in the south to the Corniche intersection with Prince Faisal bin Fahad Road, a local publication reported Wednesday.
Some of the completed parts of the project include a fishing pier of 140 meters, a marine taxi station of 70 meters extending into the sea, 75 percent of concrete work, and 90 percent of walkways over 750 meters. Construction of toilets, showers and locker rooms have also been completed, and security control centers.
During the tour, the mayor visited the tunnel project at the intersection between Al-Andalus, Palestine and Al-Hamra streets, which is considered among the most vital for traffic flow in the province. The tunnel extends from the north to the south along Al-Andalus Road for 1.4 kilometers.
