Misk Twitter forum logs KSA in media revolution

RIYADH: In the presence of Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the “Tweeps 2016” forum was organized by the Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Foundation (MISK) on Monday.

The major session was allocated for five ministers from GCC countries, who spoke about the impact of social media, notably Twitter, on relations between officials and citizens.
The forum included a variety of items including panel discussions, interactive platforms, presentations and workshops, aimed at enriching the knowledge and communication skills of the youth, notably on how to deal with social media in a creative way.
Yusuf Al-Hamadi, head of the media committee of the forum, said the forum was designed to inspire creative thinking, exploit opportunities and benefit from other experiences.
He said the MISK Foundation selected a group of key subjects related to Twitter, with information sessions, that raised cultural and communication awareness of users.
The forum, one of the initiatives of the MISK Foundation, sought to develop the country’s youth at all levels. This is particularly important because they represent 60 percent of the Kingdom’s population, he said. Al-Hamadi said the launch of the forum comes as an extension to MISK Foundation’s approach to keep pace with modern times and the aspirations of the youth.
The forum had 10 different items dealing with the requirements of young people. Some 60 young men and women attended the forum where they learned about the best practices in social media.

He said the forum focused on three major areas: Education, culture and information (media).
The forum was addressed by the head of the media partnership at Twitter in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Kanda Ibrahim, on the role of the website in the creation of cultural links between community members.
The major session of the forum was attended by UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, Bahraini Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa, Kuwaiti State Minister for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir and Qatari State Minister for Defense Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Atiyya.
