RIYADH: A visit to Qasr Al-Masmak or Al-Masmak Palace Museum in Riyadh just got virtual. The Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTNH) has launched a smartphone app for “Virtual Tour via 3D images” of the historical palace.
The app, which conjures up the Saudi history on how the late King Abdulaziz founded the modern Kingdom, is available at https://www.scth.gov.sa/virtualtours/documents/masmak/index.html.
The virtual tour can help navigate through different halls of the museum, showing its internal sections through 360° camera images.
The app allows the visitors to access any part of the museum and enlarge the image for more details or view inscriptions and decorations on the walls, besides detailed information on relics, photos and drawings inside the museum.
It also allows taking a three-dimension tour via the Internet to view the unification story of the Kingdom, which was started from the Al-Masmak Fort, and watch a presentation on the unification.
