LOS ANGELES: Late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel will host the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards in September, the ABC television network announced on Monday.
Television’s version of the Oscars rotates among the four major broadcasters — ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox — and Kimmel presented once before, when it was last aired on ABC in 2012. “I am excited to be hosting the Emmys again. I have a feeling I’m going to be great,” the 48-year-old New Yorker said in a statement.
“Jimmy Kimmel Live,” now in its 14th season, is ABC’s longest-running late-night talk show.
ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey described the comic as “the consummate showman.” The Emmy Awards airs live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sept. 18. Nominations will be announced on July 14.
