KACARE to help Asir convert solid waste into green energy

RIYADH: King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (KACARE) and Asir Governorate are working closely together to convert solid waste into green energy to replace dependence on fossil fuel with this eco-friendly energy source.
To this end, Waleed Husain Abu Alfaraj, vice president of KACARE recently met at his office here with Asir region’s secretary Saleh Al Qadi and his accompanying delegation.
“During the meeting, the two parties discussed cooperation between KACARE and Asir Municipality for converting solid waste into green energy to be used in producing electricity in and around green buildings,” the KACARE media department said on Sunday.
It further revealed that KACARE and Asir Municipality will work closely on the project including carrying out a technical and economic feasibility study for converting solid waste into electrical energy.
This visit comes within the framework of promoting understanding between KACARE and other government agencies in the wake of Vision 2032, which aims to replace 50 percent of the dependence on traditional fossil fuel with eco-friendly renewable energy.
The Kingdom is keen to promote an eco-friendly program derived from resources which are naturally replenished on a human timescale such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves and geothermal heat as the ambitious project draws the profile for the future of clean energy in the Kingdom.
Notably, KACARE is also extending technical expertise to help develop renewable energy sources, industries and services related to renewable energy, and will provide relevant technical education and training in this field in the Holy City of Madinah.
