Gulf Air, Bahrain’s national carrier, was recently honored, for the third consecutive year, at the sixth edition of the information and communication technology (ICT) conference, MEET ICT, and the Bahrain International Technology Exhibition (BITEX) — held in Bahrain earlier this month. The airline’s Director of Information Technology Jassim Haji was awarded the ICT Personality Award — Private Sector.
Held with the support of Bahrain’s Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, the MEET ICT 2016 event is described as the leading and biggest ICT event in Bahrain.
Jassim Haji, who received the award form Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, said: “I am honored to receive this award. It is not only a reflection of an ongoing and longstanding drive to enhance the aviation and travel experience with the latest technology solutions, but is also the direct result of many pioneering ICT projects successfully implemented at Gulf Air, including, most recently, Internet of Things, tablets and mobility of services across the airline. The award also recognizes Gulf Air as a leading organization in its ICT achievements across Bahrain’s private sector.”
This is the third consecutive MEET ICT award won by Gulf Air. In previous years, Bahrain’s national carrier has won for best Big Data project and best Mobile applications for Electronic Flight Bag.
MEET ICT is an annual event that attracts all IT and ICT companies to share the latest trends and technologies. This year, the event hosted more than 250 VIPs and participants representing 10 countries. MEET ICT hosts several activities such as workshops, business matching sessions, meetings and exhibits that aim to enhance the experience of all participants and enable them to exchange knowledge and ideas on different platforms.
