HYDERABAD: Abdul Raheem Quraishi, assistant general-secretary and spokesperson of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), died on Thursday. He was 82.
Quraishi was president of the Majlis-e-Tameer-e-Millat, a socioreligious organization working for the social, educational and cultural uplift of Muslims. He headed the group for over two decades.
Tameer-e-Millat was founded by the late Syed Khaleelullah Hussaini in the 1950s.
Muslim leaders condoled the death of Quraishi.
Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) President Asaduddin Owaisi termed it a huge loss for the community.
“This is also a personal loss to me as he advised and guided me, whenever necessary,” Owaisi said.
