JEDDAH: The Consulate General of India, in association with the Saudi-Indian Business Network (SIBN), organized an event to commemorate the 14th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) at the consulate premises on Saturday. The theme of the event was “India: Emerging economy with emerging opportunities.”
More than 100 Indian professionals and Saudi nationals attended the event. The program was also attended by Dr. M.S. Karimuddin and Rafiuddin Fazulbhoy, both recipients of Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award.
Felicitating the two leading Indians, Consul General B.S. Mubarak highlighted the significant initiatives taken by the government of India to strengthen the investment climate of the country, to make it one of the strongest economies in the world.
He also highlighted the business friendly reforms being carried out by the government whereby many new business opportunities have emerged. This includes freight corridor, smart cities, simplified procedures for investment as well as the reforms in real estate.
Thirteen professional experts in various fields spoke at the event. They included Danish Abdul Ghafoor, Mohammed Muzammil Riyaz, Mohammed Hyder, Asim Zeeshan, Vijay Soni, Mohammed Sheriff, Naveen Kumar, Majeedul Hasan, Mohammed N. Al-Qureshi, Suresh Kumar, Javid Ahmed and Ghazanfar Ali Zaki.
Zakaria Biladi of Marketing Support Services made arrangements for the program, which was conducted by SIBN’s General Secretary Majeedul Hasan and Management Coordinator Asim Zeeshan.
The event was supported by the commercial section of the Indian consulate headed by S.R.H. Fahmi, consul (commerce), along with Amjad Shareef, MRA.
