Arab youth center launched

RIYADH: A youth center was launched here this week as part of a United Nations initiative to promote volunteerism among Arab youth.
The event was organized by a youth organization “The Best Nation of Volunteer Work” at Dar Uloom University in the capital. It was attended by Ibrahim Hussein, head of the UN program for voluntarism in the Arab world, who said the program had 300,000 volunteers in the world including Arabs.
He said the UN mission currently covers Egypt, Jordan, Yemen, Tunisia and Morocco. The program includes a large segment of Arabic-speaking members, which needs a special office for them in cooperation with the Saudi government and volunteer partners.
Among those present were Najeeb Al-Zamil, chairman of the Voluntary Work Association, and Othman bin Hashim, chairman of the youth foundation.
