RIYADH: Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon discussed on Sunday bilateral cooperation and issues of mutual concern including combating terrorism.
Accompanied by a large delegation, Rahmon arrived on an official visit in Riyadh on Saturday. He was received at the airport by Riyadh Gov. Prince Faisal bin Bandar and Tajikistan’s Ambassador Aazam Shash Rifi.
Earlier, Tajikistan said it was considering the proposal to join the 34-nation Saudi-led alliance against terrorism. Therefore, Rahmon’s visit assumes greater significance.
Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir held a phone talk earlier with his Tajik counterpart to discuss the alliance.
King Salman also hosted a luncheon banquet in honor of the visiting president and the accompanying delegation.
