RIYADH: Bangladesh Ambassador Golam Moshi announced here on Wednesday that his country has joined the 34-member Islamic Military Coalition led by the Kingdom.
The envoy was speaking at the commemorative meeting of the 44th anniversary of the Victory Day of Bangladesh held at the Chancery premises on Wednesday.
Appreciating the initiative taken by the Kingdom for the formation of the coalition, Moshi said that terror in all its forms should be eradicated for people to enjoy an independent life. “We will cooperate with the coalition to combat the menace to society which has killed innocent people and caused severe damage to persons and properties.”
Paying glowing tributes to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman whose unparalleled leadership inspired the people to fight for the independence of Bangladesh, the envoy mentioned that the victory, earned through bloodbath and sacrifice, is the greatest success of the people.
“Cherishing the true history of the liberation war close to our hearts, we would have to go ahead in achieving the objectives of the Charter of Change by building a Bangladesh, free from corruption, malgovernance, terrorism, hunger and poverty inspired by Bangabandhu.”
He also remembered with gratitude the contributions of the valiant freedom fighters of war of independence who made supreme sacrifices to achieve the great victory in the war of liberation of the country. He called upon all Bangladeshis to work hard to brighten the image of Bangladesh in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and contribute to Bangladesh’s economic development.
Highlighting the significance and spirit of the day, he underlined the need for renewing the commitment to remain united and make concerted efforts for the socio-economic development of Bangladesh.
The ambassador thanked expatriate Bangladeshis for participating in the economic development of Bangladesh by sending remittances through proper banking channels .
Commending the progress of the existing government in different sectors, the ambassador mentioned that the days are not too far when Bangladesh will occupy important a position in international arena and it will become a ‘Golden Bengal’ (Digital Bangladesh) as outlined in the Vision 2021 and Vision 2041 by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
He told the audience that the embassy's entire team is working hard to intensify relations with the Kingdom and hoped to see results in the near future, particularly more cooperation in manpower, trade and investment.
