RIYADH: In its recently-held election to form a new Cabinet, Pakistan Writers Club-Riyadh’s Ladies Chapter (PWC-LC) has unanimously elected Farah Ehsan as convener and Madiha Malik its deputy convener.
The PWC-LC has now 12 active members that include Farah Ehsan, Madiha Malik, Asma Tariq, Dr. Rabia Amir, Madiha Noman, Shaheen Javed, Qundeel Aymen, Reem Al-Qurashi, Mehwish Qureshi, Aisha Tahir, Almas Mumtaz, and Ambreen Faiz Ahmad.
An association of creative Pakistani ladies, the group was founded on Nov. 15, 2013 by PWC President Faiz Al-Najdi to provide a platform for talented ladies from among the Pakistani community in Riyadh, who have proficiency in public speaking, writing, poetry, journalism, fine arts and fashion design. The aim is to promote literary and social activities.
As per the governing by-laws of PWC & PWC-LC, election of office bearers is held every two years. The last Cabinet of PWC-LC headed by outgoing Tariq and Dr. Amir was dissolved on Nov. 1 and elections were conducted under the supervision of a designated election commissioner.
The newly elected convener Ehsan is a motivated professional having experience in supply chain management and administration.
She was born in Islamabad-Pakistan, had her early education in Karachi. She graduated from the Punjab University and accomplished a postgraduate degree in economics and finance from International Islamic University, Islamabad. Ehsan has worked with different multinational firms including Squire Patton Boggs and Huawei Technologies (Pvt) Ltd. She is a founding member of PWC-LC and prior to being elected as the convener, Ehsan served PWC-LC as its finance secretary.
A graphic designer by profession, Madiha Malik has her bachelor’s degree in graphic design from Multan University. She was born and raised in Multan, Pakistan, and is presently working as a freelance designer. Her interests are in visual arts, photography, fine arts, filmmaking and in the performing arts. She has also remained associated with the Multan Writers Club, Performing Arts Society and Filmmaking Society in Multan. Prior to being elected deputy convener, Madiha Malik served as public relations officer for PWC-LC.
