JEDDAH: The Saudi ambassador to Turkey, Adel Siraj Mirdad, has confirmed that the Saudi Embassy is following up on a Saudi woman who joined the terrorist group Daesh.
The woman, nicknamed Sajer, traveled from the Kingdom with her three children to Turkey, according to a media report.
Meanwhile, there are allegedly three Saudi men who were recruited by unidentified people to join Daesh after their arrival in Turkey. The Saudi Embassy in Turkey is making efforts to locate the Saudi woman, her children and the three Saudi men in order to bring them back to the Kingdom.
The woman and her three children have been missing since their arrival in Turkey five months ago. The Saudi ambassador to Turkey praised the level of cooperation between Saudi and Turkish authorities who are trying to locate them.
Mirdad stressed the importance of joint coordination at the highest levels in many fields between the Kingdom and Turkey. He confirmed that there are no Saudis in Turkish prisons.
He called on all Saudi citizens who are going to Turkey to stay away from border towns, and not to hesitate to contact the embassy in Ankara or the consulate general in Istanbul in case help is needed.
He warned citizens of booking trips to Turkey through little known websites and tourist offices. He noted that most citizens’ complaints go back to problems with hotel bookings and car rental companies as a result of people using such websites and tourist offices.
