JAZAN: Residents of more than 16 villages in the Al-Hakimiyyah Center in the Mardhiah area have complained of air pollution owing to dumping of garbage in the locality by the Jazan municipality.
Residents said garbage is being burned daily at the site near Al-Alaloyiah village, seriously affecting the health of villagers.
Residents Ali and Hassan Hikimi said the once-clean air in the area has now been polluted due to the presence of constant clouds of garbage smoke that is poisoning the atmosphere and putting a lot of pressure on the people of the area, who say it is ruining their villages.
Ali Al-Hikimi noted that the people of the area have continued to suffer many years from this situation because the burning of the garbage is not carried out in the correct way. He has called on the people of the area to pressure the authorities to rectify the situation, and to ensure the safety of the residents by burning the garbage using proper, safe methods.
The residents have called on Gov. Prince Mohammad bin Nasser to intervene and solve the worsening problem.
Hassan Al-Hakimi said that the most severely affected villages are Al- Madaaih, Al-Khums, Al-Khamisiyah, Al-Aloliah, Al-Khalfah, Al-Shbiekah, Al-Umariyah, Al-Waset, Juniedah, Al-Markh, Al-Khadra, Al-Wihlah, Al-Sawarmah, Al-Qadab, Al-Swiedi and Al-Murabi.
