JEDDAH: Citizens and residents in some areas of the city are forced to wait for up to three days for tankers from the National Water Company (NWC), a local online publication reported on Monday.
Many said that despite repeated promises by NWC officials, they were not able to get their water on time. This has caused problems for many elderly people, the report stated.
Nassir Hassan, a resident of Al-Muntazahat, said he stopped receiving water a week ago. When he telephoned the company, an official told him they would contact him after 10 hours but this did not happen.
When he visited the company, he found that his complaint had not been registered. After he registered, he was told that water would be available in seven hours, and that there was a problem with the company’s management.
Mossa Eidan, a resident of Tahlia who is in his 70s, said he contacted the company on Thursday. It has now been five days and he has not received any water.
Umm Khalid Al-Shamrani of Al-Waziriyah said she was told to visit the company to get water. However, when she arrived in a taxi at the company’s premises, there were no water tankers left. She had no option but to look elsewhere for water, which was an inconvenience because she had guests at her home.
