JEDDAH: The local Pakistani Journalists Forum (PJF), in cooperation with the Consulate General of Pakistan, celebrated the country’s 69th Independence Day, where children thrilled the audience with patriotic songs.
Pakistan Consul General Aftab A. Khokher and his wife Afshan Khokher were the chief guests. The program got off with the recitation of Qur’anic verses by Qari Mohammed Asif and a rendition of a “naat” by senior journalist Mohammed Amil Osmani.
PJF Chairman Amir Muhammad Khan welcomed the guests and extended greetings to them on the occasion of the 69th Independence Day.
Khan said the day is celebrated for renewal of “our pledge for solidarity and unity as one nation for its protection and development.”
Khokher congratulated the forum for demonstrating their love for the country by hosting the National Day and echoed the sentiments expressed by Khan that PJF, being a patriotic organization, always stands in support of the nation’s development.
“Independence Day is the day to rededicate our efforts for the country and its progress, so we can create a better Pakistan for our new generations,” said Khokher.
“Today, we spent a few hours together but we need to plan what we can do for the country’s development and progress in the rest of 364 days of the year.”
“Political stability is gaining strength once again in Pakistan and the country is on its way to development and progress,” the consul general said.
Children presented patriotic numbers, including, “Main Pakistan Hoon, Main Zindabad Hoon.”
