JEDDAH: Security authorities in Tabuk arrested a male citizen in his 30s for setting fire to two vehicles and shooting at the house of a family who refused his marriage proposal after the family took money from him.
Lt. Gen. Khaled Al-Ghabban, Tabuk police spokesman, said in a press statement on Monday that Dabaa police arrested the man accused of shooting at the house of the woman who appeared in a video saying that a man tried to burn her house and set two of the family’s vehicles on fire.
Al-Ghabban said the operations room at the Dabaa police earlier received a report from the 16-year-old son of the woman, stating that while he was with his family at the house he heard gunfire.
“When the security forces came to check the report they found that the wall of the house had traces of shooting but there were no causalities,” said the spokesman.
With further evidence from the location, the statement of the son, in addition to information gathered, police found out that a dispute exists between the man and the family but both the son and the woman denied any connection with the accused and did not want to file charges against him.
“When police received a report of the two burned vehicles, one belonging to the woman and the other to her son, they changed their mind and pressed charges against the man who was soon arrested,” said Al-Ghabban.
The accused is a 33-year-old Saudi citizen who is unemployed. The accused said there were disputes between him and the family of the woman who previously took money from to marry her daughter, and then refused his proposal.
The spokesman said the papers of the accused were referred to the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution for further investigation.
