King Fahd Hospital treats 158 emergency cases during Eid

RIYADH: The King Fahd Hospital in Jeddah admitted 158 emergency cases during Eid, up from the previous years, according to Dr. Faisal Ali Nassar, hospital director. Of the number, 42 percent were of high risk.
The hospital director thanked Dr. Mohammed Nasser, chairman of anesthesia and operations, for leading the anesthesiologists, technicians and nurses who helped each other in attending to the hospital cases during Eid.
In his report, Dr. Nasser said that the cases during Eid included bone fractures due to vehicular accidents (26), general surgery (46), burns, colon blockage due to the presence of a large tumor, head injuries that required surgical intervention, blockage in cerebrospinal fluid , brain bleeding, serious spine injuries such as fractures in the vertebrae of the neck and lumbar fractures.
“Approximately 3.1 percent of the cases were vascular injuries, three of which were of high risk because of patient’s heart muscle failure and full blockage in the arteries of the legs that could lead to septic fetid shock,” he said.
The hospital director also thanked all the staff as well as surgeons from various disciplines, consultants, specialists and residents as well as technicians for working together to contribute to the achievement of the hospital this year.
Credit was also given to the Ministry of Health in the Makkah region for trying to achieve the goals and objective of the national leadership in putting the interest of citizens above all under the leadership of Minister of Health Khalid Al-Falih.
