MAKKAH: The investigation committee formed by the Ministry of Health has completed its work and presented its report in the case of decomposition of the body of a 10-year-old girl in King Faisal Hospital of Makkah, an online newspaper reported.
The report was presented after the committee heard 25 health practitioners about the unidentified body of the girl being left in the emergency department of the hospital for more than five days which led to its decomposition and foul smell spreading across the department.
Abdul Wahhab Shilbi, spokesman of the directorate of the health affairs in Makkah, said that the committee has talked to doctors, technicians and other people concerned before preparing the report. It has presented its report to Health Minister Khalid Al-Falih.
Appropriate action will be taken in view of the report. The culprits of the incident would be punished. The minister would announce the outcome of the probe, he said.
A relative of the child has come to the emergency department of the hospital on 26th of Ramadan and has left the hospital leaving the child behind after he found that the child has died. Her body was not moved to the mortuary and was left inside the emergency department for five days till it started stinking.
The newspaper has reported that the child had an African nationality and her father was not in the Kingdom as his visa had expired. He had left the country five months ago, leaving his daughter behind with her mother in Makkah. The girl was suffering from multiple diseases.
