MADINAH: Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman has once again confirmed his commitment to the development of the Prophet’s city by approving the Darb Al-Sunnah Project, Madinah Gov. Prince Faisal bin Salman has said.
Prince Faisal, who is also the president of the Madinah Development Authority, thanked the king for giving the green signal, during his recent visit to the holy city, to the development of the 3-km stretch between the Prophet’s Mosque and Quba Mosque.
The king’s move also highlights his care for the citizens and visitors to the holy city, he said.
In a telegram to the king, the prince said: “The project is a pioneering thought that will enliven the memory of historical locations in Madinah and achieve a safe path for pedestrians between the historic Quba Mosque and its surrounding areas and the Prophet’s Mosque. The path is designed according to the original heritage architecture of Madinah.
“The project takes into consideration palm farms surrounding the mosque, which will provide the visitors and inhabitants with recreational facilities.
“The project also includes the implementation of the King Abdulaziz Complex for Waqf Libraries in Madinah to enhance its pioneering cultural role in the Islamic world.”
