JEDDAH: The photograph of a cat waiting for iftar in the Grand Mosque in Makkah has gone viral on social media and has drawn praise from Muslims and non-Muslims alike, with the animal being lauded.
Amed Al-Jawhari tweeted that this shows how even animals respect and worship God. “It seems that the cat has booked its place for breaking the fast at the iftar table in the Haram.”
Mohammed Massad tweeted: It’s the most beautiful image of a cat sitting at the iftar table among the worshippers and waiting for iftar.
Asael Bukhari commented that the photograph also shows how Islam gives rights to animals also. “Though the cat came and sat among worshipers at the iftar table, but nobody removed it from there. Instead, the worshipers enjoyed the cat’s presences among them.”
Another social network user, Azmat Ahmed, said it’s amazing to see how the animal is respecting the iftar and fasting. Cats don’t wait when food is kept in front of them. “Such etiquette only shows that even animals are aware of the month of Ramadan and the importance of fasting.”
