Haia chief goes to front line

Abdul Rahman Al-Sanad, president of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice (Haia), on Thursday visited the armed forces stationed in the Kingdom’s southern borders as part of Operation Decisive Storm and commended their bravery and efforts to defend the country.
“Our brave military forces and border guards are defending the Kingdom and its people from aggressors and criminals and they are doing a great job in the service of the nation. They protect the country’s achievements,” Al-Sanad said.
The Haia chief commended Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman for launching Operation Decisive Storm to restore legitimacy in Yemen on request of that country’s legitimate president after Houthi rebels occupied the country’s presidency and created havoc.
“This is a historic stand taken by King Salman and what our armed forces are doing now is discharging their national duty,” Al-Sanad said, and prayed for the safety and victory of Saudi forces taking part in the operation.
“The Houthis have deviated from their religion and have gone against their legitimate rulers as they wanted to spread their destructive thoughts in the country,” the Haia chief said.
In a related development, Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Asheikh said Saudi Arabia had never intended to wage any war but was drawn into the battle because of the Houthi aggression that threatened the Kingdom’s security.
Al-Asheikh said the Kingdom sent its forces after Yemen’s legitimate president called for help in order to stop the atrocities being committed by the Houthis who have been killing people and destroying properties in the country.
“Their aggressive activities had extended to the Kingdom’s borders threatening Saudi Arabia’s security. Operation Decisive Storm was essential to discipline the terrorist group and protect the Ummah from its danger,” he added.
