SR100,000 compensation for death and disability at work, says ministry

A government employee is to be granted a compensation of SR100,000 in case of death or permanent disability while on duty, the Ministry of Civil Services has said.
The Article 35, which relates to such incidents, clearly spells out compensation and other facilities such as sick leave and wages in accident cases.
A worker is also entitled to a payment for any unused vacations or “payment in lieu,” it clarified.
According to norms, if a worker falls sick or is injured while on duty, and if illness or injury prevented him from performing his job temporarily, he is entitled to sick leave for one-and-a-half year with full salary.
If the employee does not resume duty after this period, he will be referred to a medical committee for an examination to decide whether he should be relieved with a retirement salary of 80 percent of his last basic salary or to extend his sick leave where in this case only half of the salary will be paid.
If the medical committee decides that the employee should be treated outside the Kingdom, his travel and treatment expenses should be borne by the employers, the ministry added.
