The Kingdom has expressed its dismay at some international media outlets that are making provocative reports and statements regarding the verdict against Raif Badawi, a Saudi citizen and a blogger who was accused of committing crimes against his country.
The Kingdom rejects allegations that have been launched against the country in recent weeks, an official source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told the local media. Saudi Arabia is saddened at the way some foreign media agencies are attacking its legal system, said the source.
The Kingdom does not accept any interference in its internal affairs, added the ministry source.
The source also stressed that all legal cases are handled without “any discrimination or exceptions.”
Saudi Arabia is one of the first countries to uphold human rights and honor all international charters that conform with the Shariah law, the source pointed out.
But Saudi Arabia cannot allow anyone to violate its statutes and its constitution based on the Islamic Law, said the source.
From the government’s perspective, the source said, the Kingdom’s open stance on human rights has been used by some international agencies and media outlets to serve certain political motives.
