American celebrity chef stages demonstration at Tamimi Markets

Tamimi Markets, in cooperation with the US Consulate General Dhahran, hosted American celebrity Chef Spike Mendelsohn at the supermarket’s Doha location, where he demonstrated how to prepare fresh, healthy and tasty recipes.
“I was so impressed with the modern design of Tamimi Markets, the fresh foods, and the great selection of quality products from all over the world,” the chef said. “Everything — the ingredients, knives, cutting board, bowls, spoons, gloves — all came from the supermarket itself.”
US Consul General Mike Hankey attended the evening cooking demonstration with his family, joining expats and Saudi customers who enjoyed the presentation. The morning event also attracted many customers.
“I’m very happy we’re being hosted by Tamimi Markets and that we have Chef Spike Mendelsohn here today. He’s been in Riyadh, he’s here with us in Dhahran today, and this is all part of a connection he is making between the US and Saudi Arabia,” Hankey said.
Spike is opening a new restaurant, Good Stuff Eatery, in Riyadh this year. Good Stuff Eatery features chef-inspired handcrafted burgers, handcut fries and handspun shakes. This will be the first expansion of the burger restaurant outside of the United States.
Tamimi Markets operates 23 modern supermarkets in the Kingdom with a publicly stated goal to expand to 50 stores by 2020. Tamimi Markets is privately owned by The Tamimi Group, based in Dammam, Eastern Province.
