The 9th annual Yanbu Flower Festival is continuing to attract more visitors, with 300,000 people passing through every single day since its opening, forcing the extension of the celebration to until Feb. 28 at the request of these visitors. The festival is being organized by the Royal Commission in Yanbu’s Landscaping and Irrigation Department, and is taking place at the Events Garden in Yanbu Industrial City.
The organizers have paid great attention to the festival activities in order to attract a large number of visitors. A total of 150 local institutions and companies specialized in agriculture, landscaping, various supplies for house gardens and forestation products are participating in the event.
Specialists, agronomists and gardeners are participating in the festival to help visitors with their garden designs, and are showing them how to use proper engineering methods, how to define the needed supplies for house gardens, as well as explaining ways to take care of gardens and flowers.
This year’s festival is memorable for its flower portrait of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, which uses 1.2 million flowers. The portrait is located at the center of the festival site, and has been designed by Saudi engineers of the Royal Commission in Yanbu.
Ala’ Nassif, chief executive officer of Royal Commission of Yanbu, said that the second part of Yanbu’s waterfront is now open to the public after being renovated recently. In the coming months, other parts of the waterfront will be handed over to investors in order to create resorts, restaurants and other recreational facilities that will be ready for the public in two years.
He noted that when these projects are completed, they will attract investments of around SR4 billion.
“During last year, the number of visitors to the waterfront of Yanbu Industrial City were more than one million, and this year we expect to exceed this number after providing many child-oriented events and facilities,” Nassif said.
