Taibah University suspends nine female students

The disciplinary committee of Taibah University has suspended nine female students from various departments for committing a series of unacceptable acts including fistfights, local media reported.
The suspensions come after all attempts made by the competent authorities at the university failed to persuade the students to refrain from such practices, a source told a local daily.
Nine students were suspended for one semester while one student was expelled for her repeated violations of the regulations and instructions, the source said.
The behavior of one of the students has been called by the disciplinary committee as a “major violation,” as it involved defaming her college mate on a social networking sites (Twitter), sending tweets and using abusive words in order to stop her from studying at the university and sully her image, the source said.
Taibah University Rector Adnan Al-Mazrou said that a student is suspended only for a major breach of conduct and after a thorough and impartial investigation.
Earlier, the university took similar disciplinary actions against nine students for a variety of actions including smoking on the campus, clashes, bad dressing and posting insulting tweets.
