The Riyadh-based Saudi Computer Society (SCS) has announced that its 20th Conference on Social Networking and Intellectual Security will take place on Feb. 11th and 12th at Princess Noura University this year. Education Minister Azzam Al-Dakhil will be the guest of honor at the two-day conference, according to the organizers of the event.
An official from SCS confirmed that the event is open to people with scientific and technical expertise, as well as educators and citizens, both male and female.
Established in 1987, SCS is the first national non-profit scientific society involved in activities concerning scientific and cultural advancements in computer science and information technology (IT). “The modern world today is witnessing a tremendous revolution in information and communication technology (ICT). Its effects are obvious in various aspects of economic, political and educational life,” the official added.
The official noted that this has facilitated the growth of electronic means of communication between individuals and groups leading to the exchange of information among them freely without the barriers of space and time.
Social networking and electronic means of communication have been popular among different segments of society where the network can bring about changes in the ideas of individuals, groups and policies of states. Accordingly, the 20th event calls for researchers in the field of social networks to provide research that deals with the impact of social networks, and which analyze its social security issues and intellectual dimensions in the current context.
The event will feature various topics including jurisprudential opinions related to social networks, models and experiences in the recruitment of social networks. It will also evaluate the impact of social networks on the preaching of Islam.
Other topics are set to include: Protecting the country through social networks, Social and political blocs in social networks, Rumors and reliability in social networks, and strengthening the role of Saudi Arabia through social networks.
Additionally development and raising the level of services offered through social networks will be discussed, along with an exploration of the notion of modern media versus traditional media. DIscussions regarding security and legislative controls in social networks will also feature during the two-day conference.
Regarding technical aspects, the speakers will discuss systems and algorithms for research, localization, management and analysis of social networking data, detecting, analyzing and preventing intruders in social networks, and privacy and security in these networks.
On the educational front, the topics include teaching and education, the impact of social networks on students, the influence of social networks, and the impact of social networks on the behavior of individuals and society.
