KSA wins Gulf excellence awards in health media

The Kingdom, represented by the Ministry of Health, won four categories in this year’s Gulf excellence awards in health media. The competition is an annual event organized by the health ministers’ council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
The coveted award aims at developing innovation and creativity in health awareness at a regional level, by encouraging innovators to promote healthy lifestyles for a disease-free GCC.
Saudi Health Ministry won first place in Social Communication category for the ministry’s account on twitter and the first place in Electronic Applications for the mobile app ‘Your Health Adviser.’
“The other two awards included second place in TV category for a televised message to fight obesity and inactivity and also second place in the radio category, for a message to motivate diet and physical activity,” said Khaled Al-Marghalani, an MoH official.
According to Al-Marghalani, the awards will help the ministry to achieve the health plans drafted by the GCC countries. “These awards foster the spirit of competition among the workers and provide a rich base for health media,” the official said.
Over 130 contestants from all GCC countries including governmental departments, media organizations and individuals have applied for this year’s Gulf excellence in health media awards.
